The Orangery, Loventor Manor
The Guest Book
When we set up The Orangery in early 2009 we wanted it to be the sort of place where we ourselves would love to come and stay – somewhere meticulously clean, well presented and which lived up to (or beyond) its description: somewhere very comfortable with, hopefully, a bit of a “wow” factor.
Have we succeeded? Who better to ask than those who have come to stay at The Orangery. These are some of their comments taken from our visitors’ book:
"The loving and creative energy you’ve put into making everything just right for your visitors ... we really appreciate your hard work and vision. We’ve stayed in many places in many places in England and Europe, many very delightful – but this, quite honestly, is the best – the very best " D&T, Birmingham: Oct 11
"What a wonderful, warm welcome ... a tranquil, meditative place ... enjoyed the beauty of the countryside, the log fire, simple living ... " W&C, Surrey: Oct 11
"We really enjoyed The Orangery Did nothing but relax. How nice to wake to the sunrise and the sound of an owl..." J&N, Wimbledon: Oct 11
"Lovely spot – gorgeous views and quiet! ... we’re coming back "A &V, Hove: Sep11
"Perfect romantic hideaway ... just wished we could have stayed longer. Hopefully back next year " W&G, Holland: Sep 11
"A wonderful week of total peace and quiet." J&K, W Sussex: Aug 11
"We picked the perfect place for our honeymoon ... you don't need to bring anything with you ... you take away a multitude of amazing memories to last a lifetime ... BBQs and log fires in the evening is a wonderful way to round off long, lazy days." I&C, Morecombe: Aug 11
"The Orangery lived up to all our expectations ... even the changeable weather couldn’t spoil such a peaceful and tranquil spot ... the garden is superb and the bird table is a hive of activity with some greedy visitors. The buzzards are fascinating too ." A&S, Derbyshire: Jul 11
"Our second visit, and as blissfully beautiful as last time." I&C, Bristol: Jul 11
"The house itself is fabulous ... it’s a lovely mix of quirky old building and all mod cons! And spotlessly clean, wonderful" C&K, Leicester: Jun 11
"Well, the end of our 3rd stay and still loving it so!! You certainly have a flair for creating comfortable and relaxing retreats" V&K, Cheltenham: Jun 11
"We started our week with a welcoming roaring fire and ended with sunburn and outdoor BBQs. A perfect pint sized idyll" C&R, Norfolk: Jun 11
"The Orangery is an ideal location to tour the area or to stay in and chill out"N&R, Manchester: May 11
"It’s a real home from home with the bonus of beautiful views from every window ... we will miss watching the deer munching their way across the field opposite in the evenings"N&C, Cumbria: May 11
"Andy & Barbara have thought of everything from the well-stocked kitchen to the beautiful scones on arrival" K&I, London: Apr 11
"The accommodation has everything you need and all the extra touches have been very well thought out – thank you for creating such an idyllic hideaway"C&G, Farnborough: Mar 11
"The design and position are outstanding – lovely welcome, super scones ...."C&R, Tenbury Wells: Feb 11
"Very very cold (outside) Barbara and Andy made sure we had plenty of fuel for the log burner and that kept us snug. We came to relax and that is what we managed to do in comfortable, homely surroundings" S&K, Somerset: Christmas 10
And the appeal has proved to be right across the board – from young couples to octogenarians and many in between: from walkers to those seeking more leisurely pursuits (or no pursuits at all!): from 'special occasions' to “we just need a holiday”.
Of course we rarely know in advance why our guests come or exactly what they’re looking for, so it’s a challenge to fulfil all expectations and unlikely that we’ll always succeed. And, of course, we can’t guarantee the Devon weather!
