Explore South Hams: famous for its unspoilt coastline and beaches - Hope Cove, Thurlestone, Burgh Island, Bantham, all approx 1 hour’s drive away
Dartmoor National Park: 12 miles, wonderful walking, spectacular scenery
Totnes: 3 miles, quaint Elizabethan town, small local shops and plenty of coffee houses and bars, supermarkets
Torbay: 5 miles, beaches and attractions
Exeter: 25 miles, the Cathedral City, with a new shopping development to satisfy the most avid shopper
Plymouth: 30 miles, with its Harbour and maritime history, Aquarium, Ice-rink and Shopping Mall

The area is a Mecca for all sorts of outdoor pursuits and activities:

Sailing: renowned Dartmouth just 11 miles, Salcombe just around the bay
Watersports: Surfing, Kitesurfing, Windsurfing, Water Skiing – lessons and hire all available in Torbay
Horse riding: Many local stables and pony-trekking on Dartmoor
Swimming: The sea (!), pools at Totnes and Torbay, Quaywest Water Park Torbay
Golf: Dainton Park Golf Club is just over 3 miles, other Clubs in and around Torbay
Walking & Cycling: Many local bridle paths offering miles of off-road walking or cycling. Loventor Manor is on an official walkway
Historic: Berry Pomeroy Castle + coffee shop (walking distance), Totnes Castle, Sharpham Estate (local wine & cheese producer),Dartington Hall and Cider Press (just outside Totnes) and many National Trust Properties and Gardens in easy striking distance
